1902 Restaurant opened at 209 W. Broadway St. on Oct. 6. For now that means one floor. Community Impact confirmed the opening and reported that only the first-floor dining room and bar are serving, six days a week. The rooftop, brunch, lunch and an upstairs bar called Mary Ann's Speakeasy will open later. If you're planning a dinner on Broadway this fall, you'll get the first chapter of a building that won't be finished for some time.
That staged opening also describes the block. Downtown Prosper is building an evening scene a piece at a time, and the pieces arrive on their own schedules. A dinner out this season is a look at one of those stages.
What Is Open at 209 W. Broadway Right Now
This is the part you can book. The first floor is open for dinner. The menu covers steaks, pasta and seafood, according to the business's social media as reported by Community Impact. Earlier coverage described steaks with Tex-Mex fusion, and the restaurant said then that the menu was still being finalized. Community Impact later updated its opening story to match the menu now in use.
Chef Amy DiBiase leads the kitchen, according to Prosper TX Spotlight. The restaurant announced her as chef before it opened. Alora Hospitality owns and operates 1902. Community Impact identified Jason Young and Donny Churchman as Alora's owners.
If you've lived here a while, you may know the address. 1902 took over the former Prosper Wine House space, which had closed the November before Community Impact first reported the project in February 2025. About 20 months passed between that first report and the October 2026 opening, and even after that wait, 1902 is opening in stages.
Still to Come Upstairs and on the Roof
The rest of the building has no opening dates. As of the September and October reports, the restaurant had named these as later phases:
- Rooftop seating, which would add an outdoor level above Broadway
- Lunch service, which would bring 1902 into daytime downtown traffic
- Brunch, which would add weekend daytime hours
- Mary Ann's Speakeasy, which would occupy the second floor
So far no source explains who Mary Ann is. Prosper TX Spotlight wrote in July that the name could turn out to be local history or simply atmosphere, and that the answer would come once the doors opened.
The restaurant's own name isn't fully settled either. Community Impact reported that "1902" refers to the year Prosper was established. Prosper TX Spotlight wrote that the origin had not been formally explained and noted that the town incorporated in 1914. A community can exist before it incorporates, so a 1902 founding date and a 1914 incorporation don't contradict each other. The restaurant itself hasn't explained the name in anything published so far.
In practice, each upcoming phase adds a new reason to stop by. Today 1902 is a dinner restaurant. Once lunch and brunch open, it becomes a daytime option on the block. With the rooftop and speakeasy, it becomes a building where you could eat downstairs and then head upstairs for a drink without leaving the address.
The Restaurant Down the Block
1902 doesn't have the block to itself. The Gin is also in the 200 block of West Broadway, at 204 W. Broadway. It shows where the newer place could be headed, because The Gin also became an evening spot one step at a time.
Community Impact profiled The Gin in June. Michael Pettis, a North Texas homebuilder, started it with his mother, Marcia Pettis. He bought the building in 2015, when the restaurant there was the Cotton Gin Cafe, a breakfast-and-lunch spot. Pettis described the old menu as so long that "you could get anything," and said it had to get more focused as the town grew.
The changes came gradually. A brick pizza oven arrived in 2017. Wagyu beef now goes into the hamburgers and chicken-fried steak, and the bar stocks high-end bourbon while the wine list grows. The space also has a back patio with a stage for live music. In Pettis's words, "People know that they can come here and not have to put a sport coat on."
The two restaurants offer different evenings. The Gin covers relaxed burgers, pizza and a patio stage. 1902 is a chef-led dining room for steaks, pasta and seafood. They share one short stretch of Broadway, and you can now choose between a casual night and a more formal one without driving anywhere else.
Prosper TX Spotlight has described Broadway as the spine of downtown, where local businesses are expected to give Prosper something different from the chain retail along Preston Road and US-380. The Gin took about a decade to get to its current form. 1902 announced its stages before it opened.
The Next Pieces Downtown Are Also Unfinished
Other downtown projects are following the same slow pattern. Parvin Park, at 401 E. Broadway St., is meant to give the street a green space. In June, Prosper TX Spotlight reported that the Town Council had approved a $532,145 construction agreement, with a playground and picnic tables planned near the existing pond and an opening targeted for summer 2026. The Town's own park inventory, updated in July 2026, still listed the park as under construction. No later public update says whether it has opened, so check its current status before planning a picnic around it.
The Prosper Arts District is also still being built. A September report said Phase 1 infrastructure was moving through permitting, with delivery projected by late 2026.
Put together, these show a downtown where the restaurants, the park and the arts district are each moving on their own timeline. This fall, 1902's first floor is the newest piece that's actually open.
Fall Dates Worth Pairing With Dinner
Through the end of the year, the Town's community events take place near downtown rather than on Broadway itself. That puts a dinner at either restaurant a short drive from each one.
- Celebrate Prosper, Hometown Harvest Fair, Saturday, Oct. 17, 4 to 8 p.m., at Frontier Park, 1551 Frontier Pkwy. The Town lists it as a free community event with nostalgic music, games, friendly competitions and picnic food, and suggests bringing a blanket. Because it ends at 8 p.m., you'd have time for a later dinner at 1902 afterward.
- Prosper Veterans Day Honor Run, Saturday, Nov. 7, 8 to 11 a.m., at Frontier Park, with 10K, 5K and fun run options, per the local events calendar. Since 1902 hasn't opened for brunch yet, The Gin is the known option on Broadway for a post-race meal.
- Prosper Christmas Festival, Saturday, Dec. 5, 3 to 7 p.m., at Prosper Town Hall, 250 W. First St., according to the Town's December calendar. The festival is at Town Hall this year, not on Broadway.
By Dec. 5, 1902 will have been open about two months. Whether the rooftop, lunch service or Mary Ann's Speakeasy is open by then depends on the restaurant's timeline, and no date has been announced. The Town's website at prospertx.gov is the place to check event details, and 1902 posts updates at 1902prosper.com.
